Best time to conceive

The period in which a woman is most likely to get pregnant is called the fertile period. For a woman who regularly menstruates every 28 days, the fertile period is 6 days between the 11th and 16th days from the date of the last period. But even outside this period, there is a possibility of pregnancy.

The menstrual cycle begins with menstruation. From there, the ovaries begin to mature for release in the next month. It usually takes about 14 days for an egg to mature to release, but this can vary. In this way, the next period occurs exactly 14 days from the date of ovulation. Since this period does not change, the number of days in the menstrual cycle varies from woman to woman depending on the time it takes for her eggs to mature and release.

A sperm can stay alive in the female reproductive system for about 5 days and after an egg is released, it remains alive for about two days. Therefore, it is enough to have sex close to the day of ovulation for an egg and sperm to come together and get fertilized. But research has found that the highest chance of getting pregnant is between 3 days before and 2 days after ovulation (usually the 14th day of the menstrual cycle). Therefore, the period from three days before the day of ovulation to two days after the day of ovulation can be considered as the fertile period.

If your menstrual cycle is irregular, it may be due to changes in the period it takes to ovulate or no ovulation. Then it is not possible to calculate the fertile time because it is difficult to guess the day of ovulation. If menstruation occurs once in an atomically determined number of days, ovulation will occur 14 days before the next menstrual period. The number of days in the menstrual cycle varies from woman to woman because the time it takes for ovulation and ovulation can vary.
